Happy Saturday my fellow Wedding Belle!
Today I am delighted to bring you a visual feast as we are chatting to Chris Mann, a wedding and portrait photographer I had the pleasure of meeting at our South Coast Wedding Supplier Meet-up back in March, it’s a great way to meet suppliers and for them to meet me of course 🙂
I was intrigued by Chris’s idea of a ‘Day After Wedding Photoshoot’, this is when the couple or family get together after the wedding and spend some more time together, having some extra images taken that might have been missed on your wedding day due to time constraints or the general stress and rush of a wedding day. Chris explains more about this service in a quick FAQ page, where he asks ‘ Should you book a Day After shoot?’

So let’s get this interview started and then we can take a peek at some of Chris’s images, both of the after day shoot and also of his range of wonderful work – all of his contacts details are at the end of the blog.
Q1 Tell us a little about yourself
I’m a full-time professional photographer based near Guildford in Surrey, specialising in weddings and portraits. I worked for several years in the Caribbean before moving back to the UK to start my own photo business.
Q2 What made you want to work in the wedding industry?
I enjoy photographing people, and a wedding not only gives you a big variety of subjects to photograph, but is also a happy and important day in peoples’ lives and it’s rewarding to document that.
Q3 What do your clients love about you and your work?
Probably my relaxed, no-fuss approach – I try to be unobtrusive and let the day unfold naturally. I think my clients appreciate the mix of candid and creative photos that I provide.
Q4 What do you think makes a good wedding?
The most important thing I think is for the couple to enjoy the day and not get too stressed out about details or keeping to an exact plan. It’s all about family and friends – while the venue, the food, and the décor are all important, it’s sharing your special day with special people and enjoying it that’s most important. And happy people make for good photographs!
Q5 What’s been your favourite wedding so far?
Can I pick two? One was a desert wedding in Dubai – that was spectacular. The other was a gay wedding – you could tell that it meant so much to the couple to be able to have a proper wedding, their joy was clear to see.
Q6 What is your top tip for couples?
Don’t over-think it! Hire good people to make the day go smoothly, and then relax and enjoy it!
Is there anything else you’d like to add to this interview or tell our followers?
A good tip is to talk to your photographer (or a couple of them if you haven’t hired anyone yet) about the planned schedule for the day before you fix the timings too exactly. From our experience we know how much time things take, and we don’t want you to be rushed because you haven’t allowed enough time for (say) family groups or your couple photos.
Thank you so much Chris for this interview, it is so good to see ‘behind the scenes’ with a lovely photographer, such beauty in colour and story telling and such valuable advice. Let’s have a look at some more of Chris’s images of his Day After Shoot which I mentioned before
