What kind of bride are you?

A bride is a woman who is about to be married and promised to another person. In today’s society there is so much pressure on bride’s to look a certain way, act a certain way and have a certain type of wedding. In the traditional sense you are expected to wear an ivory or white dress, but what about those brides that want to be a little different? How about a floral dress, or a knee length gown with a bright pink petticoat, or even throw tradition to the wind and wear a jumpsuit like Solange Knowles

I believe all brides should be able to be completely comfortable and free to be themselves on their special day, after all, it’s about two people committing themselves to each other for the rest of their lives and demonstrating their love. Don’t be afraid to wear that bright pink petticoat, or black dress, if that’s what makes you happy and what you feel comfortable in, then go for it!

A wedding day should be a day of celebration, happiness, love and fun and if your idea of fun isn’t sitting down to a formal meal with lots of speeches then don’t do it. Have a bbq, hog roast, or relaxed street food vans with live music, party games, a skull cake and a wizard if that’s what your style. Make the day about you and your significant other, include things that you both love, make you happy and are personal to you!

To be a bride in my eyes is simply to be getting married to your significant other, whether that male or female, in white or green, in a manor house or your back garden, that’s not what’s important. The important fact is that you love this person enough to say to them and the world, I want to commit myself to you for the rest of my life and to love you unconditionally forever. Be a bride, but be the bride that you want to be, not what others expect of you! J
