A Beautiful London Suburb Wedding written by Kate

Ana and Oli 6

Ana & Oli’s ‘Midsummer-Nights Dream’ themed wedding turned out to be such a beautiful day, which was a result of the hard work and dedication the couple, family, friends, suppliers & planners put into the day. Isabella Weddings is proud to have contributed to this lovely couple’s special day with our team of planners/coordinators.

The wedding took place at St Jude-on-the-hill Church in the Hampstead Garden Suburb in London, where the bride’s father Alan is the Minister. The reception took place in the brides parents garden inside a beautiful marquee next door to the church, with a drinks reception across the road at Oli’s parents house.

The story of how these two met is like one out of a Disney movie. They grew up living across the street from each other and were friends as children, then both grew up and went away to university and lost touch. Once university had ended and they moved back home with their parents, they reacquainted their friendship and fell in love. Oliver proposed to Anastasia on a holiday to Rome and thus the couple was set to wed.

When you approach St Jude-on-the-hill Church you appreciate the grandeur and scale of this building and it stands as a monument within the beautiful leafy suburb. When you walk into the church, the beauty of this place really comes to life with stunning painted high ceilings, a grand organ and the sheer size inside takes your breath away.

In keeping with the midsummer nights dream, the centre aisle and front of church where the ceremony was taking place, was lined with faux grass and topiary trees at each end of the aisle. With 7ft high candelabras flickering with 20+ candles in each lining the outside of the aisle, it really made for a beautiful setting.

The doors at the rear of the church were left open during the ceremony allowing the rays of sunshine to beam into the church, illuminating the ceremony. With around 200 guests attending the ceremony, Ana & Oli shared their vows with so many of their friends, family & congregation.

The unique program for the ceremony was designed and painted by the brides mother. It tells the story about how this lovely couple met with their houses placed on each side of the church, with Ana & Oli in the middle.

The entire day was full of beautiful flowers, which were in the bouquets, bridesmaids hair, within the church, centrepieces of the marquee, hanging from the ceiling at the reception, decorating each and every corner of the day. They were simply stunning in delicate pastel colours of pinks and oranges in keeping with the days theme. The exquisite floral centrepieces were placed upon hand carved tree slices and provided by a close friend, which added to the personal touch of the day.

The reception marquee was simply stunning, lined with ivory drapes, graceful floral displays & chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, beautiful floral centrepieces, candles, rosemary sprigs on each place setting which were cut and hand tied by the bridesmaids and children’s books as the theme for each table. The personal touches in this wedding all came together spectacularly making for a truly fabulous day.

The five tier gold and white cake was a work of art, with each tier a different flavour. Stunning flowers hand tied as a cake topper (which I created last minute to add the finishing touch to the already stunning cake).

The catering for the day was provided by DISH and the food was delicious, the attention to detail paid to each plate served to the guests was impeccable. The staff of DISH were a wedding planner’s dream and helped in any way they could, providing excellent service to the guests and suppliers. Beth, the Operations Director was a star!

The dance floor and evening reception was held in an adjoining marquee lined with beautiful up-lighters, a starlit ceiling and an Impressive illuminated A & O large letter display. The centrepieces were re-purposed and added to each end of the bar and lined with candles to add a romantic feel to the whole space. With fairy lights in the trees outside and candles lining the garden, this created a truly spectacular and romantic feel for the evening. Watching the couple share their first dance as husband & wife and dance the night away with friends & family was a fabulous way to end this beautiful day.

We hope to share some official images once we have them, for now though we leave you with a heartfelt thank you which Ana sent to us following their amazing day …

” We had the most fantastic day. It exceeded all my expectations and I enjoyed it so much more than I ever could have imagined. Tasha and Kate were calm and collected throughout, always prompting (us all) where needed, sorting dilemmas and quietly and efficiently finding solutions. I really could not imagine what we would have done without them! They are an absolute credit to your team.

I am particularly grateful to Tasha for giving up her lunch breaks in the days leading up to the wedding to organise our v last minute request of the A&O which worked beautifully in the dancing marquee”
